Gangnam-gu and Hyundai Department Store Conduct 'ESG Practice Education for Future Generations'

Gangnam-gu District Office (Mayor Jo Seong-myeong) signed a business agreement with Hyundai Department Store (CEO Jung Ji-young) on the 23rd at the district office to provide ESG practice education for future generations.

Hyundai Department Store is a company that has stood out in the ESG environmental field, achieving an A+ grade awarded only to the top 2.4% (19 companies) by the Korea ESG Standards Institute last year. They collect waste paper from all business sites to produce and provide shopping bags made of 100% recycled paper and are promoting a zero paper receipt policy.

Through this agreement, Hyundai Department Store will provide Gangnam-gu with image content and videos used in their ESG campaign, ‘Green Friends.’ The district office plans to create lectures on the topics of the global environment and carbon neutrality by utilizing this content and the instructors of Gangnam Ingang. The produced lectures will be available for free to anyone on the Gangnam Ingang website in June.

Jo Seong-myeong, Mayor of Gangnam-gu, stated, “We plan to create engaging lectures for students by combining Hyundai Department Store’s ESG campaign content with Gangnam Ingang’s instructors,” and added, “We will continue to discover various ESG projects utilizing the infrastructure possessed by both organizations.”
