Pohang City to Host 'Northeast Asia CEO Economic Cooperation Forum' with Korea, China, and Japan on July 1 The 8th Northeast Asia CEO Economic Cooperation Forum participated by Korea, China, and Japan.

The Northeast Asia CEO Economic Cooperation Forum, which began in 2015, serves as a platform for communication among local governments to seek cooperation strategies for mutual growth among major hub cities in Northeast Asia in response to the rapidly changing international landscape.

This year's forum will be attended by local government officials and business leaders from eight cities in Korea, China, and Japan, as well as various representatives from Pohang City.

For the first time in five years since the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, the forum will be held entirely offline. In the midst of a restructured global economic order and a chilling atmosphere in international exchanges and cooperation, the forum aims to strengthen local diplomacy and create opportunities for proactive responses among Northeast Asian cities by seeking mutually beneficial cooperation strategies.

The forum will begin with a keynote speech by Choi Doseong, President of Handong Global University. The first session will feature presentations by local government CEOs from Korea, China, and Japan, while the second session will consist of expert presentations and discussions.

In the first session, the Changchun International Cooperation Demonstration Zone Management Committee from China, Fukuyama City from Japan, Lee Daesik, Head of Research at Taijae Future Strategy Institute and a Russian affairs expert, and Lee Kangdeok, Mayor of Pohang, will discuss cooperation strategies among Northeast Asian local governments. In the second session, experts from Korea, China, and Japan will present and discuss strategies for responding to changes in the international situation and practical economic cooperation among local governments.

Mayor Lee Kangdeok stated, "Now in its ninth year, the Northeast Asia CEO Economic Cooperation Forum is an event that promotes practical economic cooperation among Northeast Asian cities. By strengthening diplomacy and building an economic cooperation platform among local cities, we expect this forum to play a significant role in fostering mutually beneficial development not only among local cities but also between countries."
