Buk-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City, is launching a public-private-academic cooperation network to promote coexistence and revitalization of the commercial district near the back gate of Chonnam National University.
According to Buk-gu on the 23rd, on the 24th at 2 p.m., a 'Chonnam National University Back Gate Commercial District Revitalization and Coexistence Agreement' will be signed in the situation room on the 2nd floor of Buk-gu Office by ▲Buk-gu Office ▲Chonnam National University Back Gate Alley Shopping District Merchants Association ▲Small Enterprise and Market Service Gwangju Northern Center ▲Chonnam National University Student Council.
The commercial district near the back gate of Chonnam National University was once one of Gwangju’s representative commercial areas along with Chungjang-ro and Geumnam-ro, but recently, due to uncertain external economic conditions and a domestic economic downturn, vacancy rates have increased, creating a demand for support measures to address the shrinking commercial district.
Accordingly, Buk-gu has prepared this agreement to unite the capabilities of the public, private, and academic sectors to overcome the hollowing-out phenomenon and commercial district recession crisis faced by the Chonnam National University back gate commercial district and to restore its former glory.
The main contents of this agreement include ▲support for manpower and budget for commercial district revitalization ▲designation of shopping district usage days and expansion of commercial district demand ▲expansion and stabilization of commercial district organization participation ▲provision of benefits to Chonnam National University students and expansion of their usage, with the four agreement signatories establishing an organic network to cooperate.
As the first step of the cooperative project, Buk-gu, together with the Chonnam National University Back Gate Alley Shopping District Merchants Association, will prioritize implementing a ‘Joint Commercial District Marketing Project’ for three days from the 22nd to the 24th, offering various prizes through promotional events targeting shopping district visitors to encourage repeat visits. Furthermore, Buk-gu plans to continuously discover and promote various cooperative projects to revitalize the commercial district.
