American Robbers Sweeping Luxury Goods into Trash Cans

A luxury handbag worth 2.4 billion won disappeared from a 5-star hotel store on Miami Beach, USA, and a video capturing the incident was released belatedly. On the 21st (local time), the New York Post and others reported that a luxury handbag theft incident that occurred on March 19 at a hotel in South Beach, Miami, Florida, has recently become a hot topic. The incident involved all the luxury items displayed in the hotel’s internal store disappearing.


The released closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage shows two masked men bringing a large trash bin and sweeping the handbags off the display shelves into it. They stole at least 60 Herm?s Birkin bags in just 43 seconds. The price of a Birkin bag is known to range from a minimum of $10,000 (about 13.6 million won) to a maximum of $450,000 (about 614.3 million won) each.

The police estimated the damage from this robbery to be about $1.8 million (approximately 2.4573 billion won). After receiving the report and arriving at the scene, the police identified the license plate of the car the suspects fled in and arrested one person. The arrested thief is a 45-year-old man who was also connected to a jewelry store theft that occurred ten days before this incident. He is facing charges including first-degree theft and illegal use of communication devices.


However, the whereabouts of the other thief and the stolen handbags remain unknown. Local police stated that they are investigating the detailed circumstances of the case.
