Korea is a "coffee paradise." According to the market research firm Euromonitor, the annual per capita coffee consumption in Korea last year was 405 cups. This is 2.7 times higher than the global average of 152 cups. The annual coffee production of Guatemala, a coffee-exporting country, is roughly equivalent to Korea's annual coffee consumption. Domestic golf courses are also actively leveraging Koreans' love for coffee. They are launching various coffee products to captivate golfers' hearts.
Yeoju Jayu Country Club in Gyeonggi Province opened a Starbucks inside the golf course in 2022. It is the number one coffee franchise brand in Korea. The rest area, known as the shade house, was remodeled. It covers an area of 102.54㎡ (approximately 31 pyeong). There are 20 indoor seats and 16 terrace seats available from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. They sell beverages such as Americano and Cafe Latte, as well as organic 100% orange juice and Star Ruby grapefruit sweet.
Additionally, sandwiches, cakes, and packaged foods were added. The prices, which were previously expensive at the golf course, have been adjusted to be the same as those sold in the market. However, the refill culture has been eliminated. At the Starbucks in Jayu Country Club, customers can enjoy beer. The business type was changed from a snack bar to a general restaurant. The product is called "Byeoldabang Lager." It is a beer brewed by Shinsegae Food's craft beer pub "Devil's Door." The brewing process includes blending "Byeoldabang Blend" coffee beans to add flavor.
At Yangji Pine Golf Club in Yongin, Gyeonggi Province, there is a drip coffee specialty store called "Dr. Ovin." A coffee roasting factory and drip coffee specialty store were established inside the golf course. They provide the freshest and most delicious coffee to golfers. Customers can purchase roasted coffee beans if they wish. All Day Oxfield Country Club in Hoengseong, Gangwon Province, opened "Okdabang," which is the first in Korea to evoke memories of the 70s and 80s. It offers a glimpse into "dabang" (traditional Korean coffee houses), school days, and the culture and lifestyle of that time.
At Turning Point Country Club in Yongin, Gyeonggi Province, you can enjoy Hollys Coffee. KG Hollys F&B, a subsidiary of KG Group, provides delicious coffee using premium coffee beans. The coffee is characterized by a luxurious flavor with fruity and berry notes. Refill drinks are also served with the same quality. At Suwon Country Club in Yongin, Paul Bassett awaits golfers. It is a "coffee hotspot" with a spacious area and an artistic outdoor garden view.
Some golf courses entice golfers with new menus. Seogyeongtani Country Club in Sacheon, Gyeongnam Province, is a representative example. For golfers who need energy recharge after long-distance driving, they offer Hovenia dulcis (Hutgae). It is known to be highly effective for alcohol decomposition, liver health improvement, and fatigue relief. Seogyeongtani Country Club serves its own recipe using 100% domestic Hovenia dulcis extract. There are Hutgaericano (Hovenia dulcis blended with coffee), Hutgae Latte (with added milk), and savory Hutgae tea. Lotte Skyhill Country Club in Buyeo, Chungnam Province, has attracted attention by launching menus that coexist with the local community. These include Buyeo cherry tomato juice, Buyeo strawberry yogurt smoothie, and Buyeo roasted radish tea.
