Gangwon-do Wins Overall Championship, Hoengseong Team Ranks 1st in Women's Division
Next Tournament to be Held in Hongseong-gun, Chungnam in May Next Year
The "22nd Presidential Cup National Senior Gateball Tournament" (hereinafter referred to as the Presidential Cup Tournament), held on the 22nd at Wolmyeong Sports Complex in Gunsan, Jeonbuk, successfully concluded with the Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province Federation winning the prestigious overall championship.
About 1,700 participants, including teams from cities and provinces nationwide, took part in this tournament. It was a festival-like event throughout the competition, serving as a venue for harmony among senior gateball enthusiasts across the country.

The Presidential Cup Tournament began with a vigorous opening declaration by Lee Rae-beom, Chairman of the Korea Senior Citizens Association Gunsan Branch, and an inaugural address by Kim Ho-il, Chairman of the Korea Senior Citizens Association. About 400 players from 51 teams nationwide showcased their honed skills and competed fairly.
The tournament format determined the champion through a preliminary league on the morning of the first day, followed by a final knockout stage. In the fiercely contested matches held from the morning, the men's division championship was claimed by the Jeonnam Cheonnyeon-ui Bit Yeonggwang team, and the women's division by the Gangwon Hoengseong team, each receiving prize money and trophies.
The runners-up were the Gangwon Inje team for men and the Daegu Dalseo Gamdu team for women, while third place went to the Chungbuk Yeongdong-gun team for men and the Seoul Yeongdeungpo Cheongdungori team. The outstanding player awards were given to Ko Hyung-tae (Gunsan Wolmyeong team) for men and Lee Gye-seon (Ulsan Nam-gu team) for women.
The overall championship, awarded to the best team across both men's and women's divisions, was honored to the Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province Federation, which achieved excellent results in both categories. The next tournament is scheduled to be held in May next year in Hongseong-gun, Chungnam.
Mayor Kang Im-jun of Gunsan said, "I hope this tournament served to promote the health and harmony of our seniors, and I wish happiness and joy to fill their homes and futures."
