Prosecutors Request Arrest Warrants for Kim Ho-jung and Agency Official in Drunk Hit-and-Run Case

On the 22nd, the prosecution requested arrest warrants for singer Kim Ho-jung (33) and officials from his agency on charges of 'drunk hit-and-run.' It is unusual that the prosecution immediately requested arrest warrants on the same day the police applied for them.

The Human Rights Protection Division of the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office (Chief Prosecutor Im Il-su) announced that they filed arrest warrants against Kim under the Act on the Aggravated Punishment, etc. of Specific Crimes for charges of dangerous driving causing injury and hit-and-run causing injury.

The prosecution also filed arrest warrants for Lee Kwang-deuk, CEO of the agency Saenggak Entertainment, on charges of aiding the escape of a criminal, and for the head of the agency, Jeon Mo, on charges including evidence tampering.

Kim is accused of fleeing after causing a collision with a taxi on the opposite side of the road in Apgujeong-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul, around 11:40 p.m. on the 9th.

Three hours after the accident, Kim's manager wore Kim's clothes and falsely confessed to the police that he was the one who caused the accident, and the agency's head removed the memory card from Kim's vehicle's black box, revealing circumstances suggesting they attempted to conceal the crime in an organized manner.

In particular, it was reported that during a recent police investigation, the agency head Jeon stated that he "swallowed" the removed memory card.

Regarding this, CEO Lee claimed that he was the one who instructed the manager to make a false confession, and that the removal of the memory card was the personal decision of the agency head.
