Foreign Minister Cho Tae-yul exchanged views with Japanese Foreign Minister Kamikawa Yoko ahead of the Korea-China-Japan summit.


The Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that Minister Cho Tae-yul spoke with Minister Kamikawa for 35 minutes on the afternoon of the 22nd, exchanging opinions on the Korea-China-Japan summit and mutual interests. The ministry explained that Minister Cho conveyed his hope to further strengthen the momentum for bilateral relations development secured through close communication between the Korean and Japanese leaders last year, during the final coordination of the Korea-China-Japan summit.

Additionally, Minister Cho shared the results of his two-day visit to China from the 13th, explaining that through frank and candid dialogue between Korea and China, they deepened their understanding of each other's positions and agreed to manage Korea-China relations stably based on this.


Minister Kamikawa expressed gratitude for Minister Cho’s explanation and responded by saying they would maintain close communication going forward and continue cooperating for the successful hosting of the Korea-China-Japan summit.


A Foreign Ministry official stated, "The two ministers also exchanged views on current issues between Korea and Japan," adding, "They agreed to meet again on the occasion of future major diplomatic schedules to continue close communication on various mutual interests."


Meanwhile, the Korean government is finalizing the schedule for the Korea-China-Japan summit, aiming to hold it on the 26th to 27th. It is reported that specific schedules and the agenda items to be discussed by the three leaders will be announced soon, possibly within the next few days.
