This campaign was planned to emphasize the importance of accurately identifying the presence of major high-risk HPV types, which are considered the leading cause of cervical cancer, for more effective prevention. Cervical cancer is a fatal disease threatening women's lives worldwide, with one woman dying every two minutes. However, since the cure rate is high when detected early, it can be sufficiently prevented through regular screening. Roche Diagnostics' HPV DNA test detects high-risk HPV types 16 and 18, which account for 70% of cervical cancer causes. The World Health Organization (WHO) also recommends HPV DNA testing as the primary screening test for cervical cancer prevention.
First, Roche Diagnostics released a campaign video the day before to highlight the importance of accurate HPV DNA testing. The video targets women in their 20s and 30s who believe that vaccination and cervical cytology alone provide "perfect prevention," conveying the message that vaccines cannot prevent all HPV infections and that relying solely on cervical cytology may not be sufficient. It also emphasizes the importance of identifying infection with high-risk HPV types 16 and 18, which cause cervical cancer, and that HPV DNA testing is the more accurate and reliable method for cervical cancer prevention.
Roche Diagnostics will also launch a campaign website to provide education on cervical cancer and HPV DNA testing. The website offers various information about cervical cancer and HPV DNA testing and includes a Perfect Check (√) quiz event designed to help individuals assess their knowledge of cervical cancer and HPV testing.
Additionally, Roche Diagnostics plans to produce educational materials containing information about cervical cancer and HPV DNA testing and distribute them to hospitals and clinics for healthcare professionals to use as reference materials during patient consultations.
Kit Tang, CEO of Roche Diagnostics Korea, stated, “Through this campaign, we hope many women will recognize the necessity of accurate HPV DNA testing and actively participate in cervical cancer screening. Unlike other cancers, cervical cancer can be reliably prevented through regular screening, and Roche Diagnostics will do its best to contribute to women's health by providing HPV tests that enhance the accuracy of cervical cancer screening.”
