Korea CXO Institute, Company-wise Employment Numbers Aggregated
Samsung Electronics, 3,035 Increase from December Last Year to March This Year
The employment size of major domestic conglomerates in the first quarter of this year increased by about 0.2%.
According to the Korea CXO Institute, a corporate analysis specialist, on the 22nd, among companies with a single workplace employment size of 5,000 or more as of the end of last year, the number of National Pension subscribers in 40 companies whose employment figures could be identified was a total of 697,842 as of December last year. The total number of employees in March this year was 699,230, an increase of 1,388 (0.2%) over three months. Compared to December last year, 19 companies increased employment by March this year, while 21 companies decreased. During the same period, 10 companies increased employment by more than 100 people.
The company with the largest increase in employment was Samsung Electronics, where the number of National Pension subscribers rose from 120,877 in December last year to 123,912 in March this year, an increase of 3,035. HD Hyundai Heavy Industries increased employment from 12,261 in December last year to 13,226 in March this year, an increase of 965 employees.
Additionally, Hyundai Motor Company (808↑), Coupang, Inc. (642↑), LG Electronics (630↑), LG Energy Solution (375↑), Samsung SDI (230↑), Hyundai Mobis (197↑), SK Telecom (143↑), and LG CNS (101↑) also saw significant increases in employment. In the case of Coupang, Inc., the number of National Pension subscribers increased from 9,929 at the end of last year to 10,571 at the end of the first quarter this year, surpassing 10,000 employees. On the other hand, 11 companies saw employment decrease by more than 100 people in the first quarter.
Conversely, the number of National Pension subscribers at SCK Company, which operates Starbucks, decreased from 22,017 in December last year to 21,192 in March this year, a reduction of 825. LG Display (417↓), E-Mart (341↓), Hyosung ITX (341↓), KT (241↓), and Korea Electric Power Corporation (202↓) also experienced declines in employment.
