Busan Metropolitan Corporation (BMC) is taking action to ensure the safety and security of public buildings, aiming to protect the lives and well-being of citizens.

BMC announced on the 21st that, ahead of the completion of the Busan Concert Hall on the 16th, it conducted an electrical safety inspection and pre-use inspection of electrical facilities to secure electrical safety and prevent electrical accidents.

Set to become a leading performance venue in Busan, the Busan Concert Hall is equipped with a variety of electrical facilities, including two commercial power lines, a contracted power of 3,500 kW, an emergency backup power system of 750 kW, an energy storage system (ESS) of 200 kW, a fuel cell of 17 kW, electric vehicle charging stations (one rapid charger at 50 kW and five slow chargers at 7 kW), and specialized stage equipment.

BMC requested the Korea Electrical Safety Corporation, an electrical safety expert institution, to carry out the electrical safety diagnosis and pre-use inspection for the building’s electrical facilities. As a result, it was confirmed that all aspects were constructed in compliance with technical standards.

In particular, the safety diagnosis is a separate inspection from the legally required pre-use inspection, conducted to ensure the electrical safety of public buildings. Using advanced measuring equipment, the inspection covers the overall condition of the power system?including transformers, circuit breakers, and cables?and identifies potential hazardous risks, thereby contributing to the prevention of electrical accidents in multi-use facilities.

BMC plans to thoroughly secure the overall safety of public buildings by completing inspections not only of electrical facilities before completion, but also of elevators, fire protection systems, and mechanical equipment.

Kim Yonghak, President of Busan Metropolitan Corporation, stated, “We will do our utmost to prevent electrical accidents at Busan Concert Hall, a leading performance venue in Busan, and ensure the safety of visitors and users. We will also make every effort in safety inspections across all sectors to fulfill our social responsibility as a public enterprise entrusted with the lives and safety of citizens.”
