"South Korea's First Wheeled Armored Vehicle Export"… STX Signs Contract with Peruvian Army

Supply of K808 Baekho-Based Model

General trading company STX will export wheeled armored vehicles for the first time in Korea's defense industry.

On the 22nd, STX announced that it signed a strategic partnership agreement on the 20th (local time) with the Army Arsenal (FAME S.A.C.) of the Peruvian Army Headquarters for a power enhancement project.

Accordingly, STX secured the status as a strategic partner of the Peruvian Army, allowing it to prioritize the supply of defense and special-purpose vehicles. It plans to first supply wheeled armored vehicles based on the Korean Army's standard model, the 'K808 Baekho.'

Hyundai Rotem is scheduled to produce 120 units of the wheeled armored personnel carriers, and the first batch of 30 units (worth 60 million dollars) will be delivered by the end of next year. Various derivative models such as infantry combat type, command type, and anti-air defense type will also be additionally supplied through further consultations. In addition, STX will also qualify to prioritize the supply of various military and special vehicles ordered by the Peruvian Army, Navy, Air Force, and police in the future through the Peruvian Arsenal.

Peruvian President Dina Boluarte said, "The Peruvian Army Arsenal, STX, and Hyundai Rotem will jointly produce the army wheeled armored vehicles," adding, "Through joint vehicle production, various special vehicles will be delivered in the future."

Park Sang-jun, CEO of STX, stated, "This contract is significant in expanding the defense market to the army following the navy," and added, "We will expand our defense business based on the experience we have accumulated so far."
