Hyundai Motor Company unveiled a facelifted concept model of the Xcient hydrogen fuel cell truck in the United States, expressing its ambition to fully launch the North American hydrogen logistics transportation value chain business.
On the 22nd (local time), Hyundai introduced the status of its North American logistics transportation business at the media conference of the clean transportation exhibition 'ACT Expo 2024 (Advanced Clean Transportation Expo 2024)' held at the Las Vegas Convention Center (LVCC), emphasizing its plan to expand the hydrogen commercial value chain centered on clean logistics transportation business.
Ken Ramirez, Vice President of Hyundai Motor Global Commercial and Hydrogen Business Division, said, "Hydrogen is a safe and sustainable energy carrier, and Hyundai is leading the way toward a hydrogen society," adding, "We believe that the journey to develop the hydrogen commercial value chain business by combining mobility and energy business capabilities within Hyundai Motor Group is 'progress for humanity.'"

In the second half of last year, Hyundai supplied 30 Xcient hydrogen fuel cell trucks to U.S. truck operators through the California port eco-friendly truck introduction project (NorCAL ZERO). This is the largest single supply to a North American transportation company. It is significant in that it greatly contributes to the decarbonization of the Oakland and Richmond ports by replacing existing high-emission pollutant trucks.
Additionally, Hyundai is collaborating with Glovis America to introduce the eco-friendly logistics system HTWO Logistics Solution at the 'Hyundai Motor Group Meta Plant America (HMGMA)' in Georgia. Specifically, Hyundai plans to supply Xcient hydrogen fuel cell trucks to establish a hydrogen commercial value chain system specialized in transporting parts and finished vehicles.
At this event, Hyundai revealed the facelifted Xcient hydrogen fuel cell truck concept model for the first time through digital video. The facelifted Xcient hydrogen fuel cell truck model will apply numerous advanced driving technologies that assist driving, such as collision avoidance assist, lane departure warning, and advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), based mainly on North American customer driving feedback collected over about one year since its launch last year.
Meanwhile, Hyundai has started Level 4 autonomous driving tests on the Xcient hydrogen fuel cell truck, the first hydrogen fuel cell truck in the U.S., in partnership with autonomous driving technology company 'Plus.' Through this, Hyundai plans to offer solutions for accident reduction and improved freight transportation efficiency.
