Hyundai Motor Ranks First for the First Time in CEO Score's 'Large Corporation Management Evaluation'

Evaluation of 273 Non-Financial Companies Among Top 500 Corporations
Hyundai Motor Scores 662.2 out of 800
Also Selected as 'Outstanding Company' in High Growth Sector

Hyundai Motor Company was selected as the Best Company of the Year, surpassing Samsung Electronics in a management evaluation of the top 500 domestic companies.


CEO Score, a corporate data research institute, announced on the 22nd that it conducted a management evaluation targeting 273 non-financial companies that submitted business reports among the top 500 companies by sales. As a result, Hyundai Motor scored 662.2 out of 800 points, ranking first overall.

Now in its 8th year, the management evaluation of the top 500 companies is conducted annually by CEO Score, assessing eight categories including investment, global competitiveness, and job creation among the top 500 domestic companies.


This is the first time Hyundai Motor has ranked first overall in this evaluation. Hyundai Motor, which recorded its highest performance since its founding last year, received high marks in three categories: rapid growth, investment, and global competitiveness. Samsung Electronics, which had held first place for four consecutive years until last year, earned high scores in investment, job creation, and gender equality but was pushed to second place with a total score of 638.1 points. LG Chem was ranked third with a total score of 622.6, receiving excellent evaluations in rapid growth and investment. Kia (614.4 points) and Samsung Biologics (612.9 points) followed in fourth and fifth place, respectively.


By category, in the rapid growth segment for companies with sales exceeding 10 trillion won, Hyundai Motor, Kia, LG Energy Solution, SK On, LG Chem, and Hyundai Mobis were selected as outstanding companies. Among companies with sales below 10 trillion won, T'way Air, Jeju Air, POSCO Future M, Hanwha Ocean, and Lotte Wellfood were named. In the investment category, which comprehensively evaluates tangible and intangible asset investments, Samsung Electronics, LG Chem, Hyundai Motor, Kakao, and Naver were selected as outstanding companies.


In the global competitiveness category, which compares and calculates sales ratios against the world’s number one companies, Kia, Hyundai Motor, Hyundai Mobis, Samsung C&T, and LG Electronics were recognized as outstanding companies. Kia’s sales ratio compared to Volkswagen, the world’s number one automaker, was 21.93%, and its operating profit margin was 11.63%, 4.62 percentage points higher than Volkswagen’s 7.01%. Hyundai Motor’s sales ratio compared to Volkswagen was 35.74%, and its operating profit margin was 9.30%, 2.29 percentage points higher.


In the transparent governance category, KT&G, Samsung Biologics, Naver, S-Oil, and SK were named outstanding companies. In the sound management category, which evaluates earnings per share and debt ratio, Krafton, Orion, KEPCO KPS, Celltrion, and Lotte Fine Chemical were selected as outstanding companies.


In the job creation category, LG Energy Solution, Samsung Electronics, Hyundai Mobis, Samsung SDS, and Samsung SDI were selected. As of the end of last year, LG Energy Solution employed 12,166 people, a 9.80% increase from the previous year, with an average annual salary of 123 million won per person.


Additionally, in the gender equality category, Samsung Electronics, Lotte Shopping, E-Mart, SK Hynix, and Samsung Biologics received favorable evaluations. In the social contribution and environmental protection category, Hyundai Department Store, SK Chemicals, Hyundai Wia, Lotte Fine Chemical, and S-Oil were selected as outstanding companies.
