Awards for Meritorious Persons, Commemorative Speech, and Performance at Seonbawi Park
Ulsan City will hold a ceremony to commemorate this year's 'International Day for Biological Diversity' at 3 p.m. on the 22nd at Seonbawi Park in Ipam-ri, Beomseo-eup, Ulju-gun.
The 'International Day for Biological Diversity' is an anniversary established by the UN in 1993, observed every year on May 22nd to raise understanding and awareness about biodiversity.
This year, the event is organized under the theme 'Let's All Join Efforts for Biodiversity.'
The ceremony will be attended by over 200 people, including Lee Susik, Special Advisor for Environmental Policy of Ulsan City, Lee Seongryong, Vice Chairperson of the Ulsan City Council, and heads of civic organizations. It will proceed with commendations for contributors, commemorative and congratulatory speeches, and a performance.
During the commendations, three individuals?Kim Jeongsun, a member of the Ulsan Ecotourism Council, Baek Cheolhyeon, a manager at Ulsan Facilities Corporation, and Ryu Ingeun, an executive member of the Green Energy Promotion Citizens Forum?will receive the Ulsan Mayor's Award.
At the event venue, the Ulsan Biodiversity Center and Ulsan Wildlife Rescue and Management Center will operate promotional booths to raise awareness about the importance of species conservation.
The booths will display photographs of wild animals and plants inhabiting Ulsan, as well as images of animals injured in vehicle collisions and other incidents.
An Ulsan City official said, "We hope this event serves as an opportunity to appreciate the preciousness of life and encourages everyone to take the lead in species conservation through practical actions in daily life."
