May 25th Event Held in Sillim-dong Starlight Street Area (Sillim-donggil Area)
Festival Venue Created for Residents and Merchants to Enjoy Together Under the Theme 'Starlight Oasis'
Gwanak-gu (District Mayor Park Jun-hee) will hold the 'Sillim-dong Starlight Street Festival' on the 25th around Sillim-dong Starlight Street (Sillim-dong-gil), where busy residents and merchants can come together and enjoy.
Held for the second time following last year, this festival was planned to promote the Sillim-dong commercial district, which is struggling due to the economic downturn, and to revitalize the alleyway commercial area.
The festival, themed 'Starlight Oasis,' will feature unique programs such as ▲Starlight Pocha ▲Starlight Vacation ▲Starlight Playground ▲Receipt Event.
First, Starlight Pocha is a food booth directly sold and operated by merchants of Starlight Street. Residents can enjoy various foods outdoors during the festival period.
Starlight Vacation serves as a resting and dining space for residents visiting the Starlight Festival. Equipped with picnic tents, camping lanterns, camping chairs, and tables, it operates as a 'campnic zone' that exudes a camping atmosphere in the city.
The Starlight Playground (Starlight Street Busking Zone, Flea Market, Starlight Street Karaoke) offers various entertainment options.
At the Starlight Street Busking Zone, Gwanak-gu youth art club street performance teams will present rap, vocal, band, and musical performances. At the flea markets set up throughout the area, visitors can find a variety of handmade products.
Additionally, at the Starlight Street Karaoke, people of all ages and genders can showcase their singing skills, and participants can receive small prizes.
Moreover, various participation events will be held within the venue.
The Starlight Stepper, Starlight Touch Touch, and Starlight Sparkman events are entertainment programs where visitors can enjoy light games and win prizes, offering two benefits at once. From children to people of all ages, there will also be experiences such as making Deform Blocks and LED balloons, allowing visitors to create joyful memories at Starlight Street. Sponsored by Woori Bank Gwanak-gu Office Branch, a receipt review event is also prepared for customers visiting the commercial district.
In particular, this festival will feature a 400-meter-long spectacular landscape lighting and a starlight-themed photo zone, creating a star-filled atmosphere that is expected to attract residents' attention.
The district expects this festival to enhance the brand value of 'Starlight Street,' promoted by the district office, and contribute to establishing a self-sustaining foundation for the alleyway commercial district.
The operating hours of the 'Sillim-dong Starlight Street Festival' are from 3 PM to 9 PM. However, for prior preparations and pedestrian safety, vehicle traffic in the event area will be completely restricted from 10 AM to 11 PM with the cooperation of the Gwanak Police Station.
District Mayor Park Jun-hee said, “I hope this festival will widely promote the wonderful and distinctive shops of Sillim-dong and serve as an opportunity for the Sillim commercial district to develop into a place residents want to visit repeatedly.” He added, “Going forward, our district will continue to discover and operate various projects to revitalize the alleyway commercial district with the mindset of ‘even if it’s just 10 won, if it helps merchants, we will do whatever it takes.’”
