After finishing the police investigation at around 10:41 p.m. on the 21st, Kim said, "If there are any remaining investigations, I will sincerely cooperate," and added, "I am sorry." Kim's lawyer explained, "He admitted all the facts, including drunk driving, and cooperated sincerely with the investigation. He specifically disclosed the type and amount of alcohol consumed," and added, "He angered the public with a moment of dishonesty, but he is now confessing belatedly and asking for the public's forgiveness."

The investigation had already ended around 5 p.m., but the process was delayed due to disagreements over whether to set up a photo line. It was reported that Kim was reluctant to face the press and stayed inside. Around 2 p.m. that day, Kim avoided the waiting press in front of the Gangnam Police Station photo line and entered the building through the underground parking lot. During this process, a scuffle occurred as the police blocked reporters. Ultimately, it seems difficult to avoid criticism that the police accommodated Kim's convenience. Regarding this, Kim's lawyer stated, "It is a principle that the suspect's appearance should be private. Taking photos or similar actions should not be allowed, and protective measures must be taken."
