Vacuum Cleaner Bought Secondhand... Charger That Came With It Is 'For Toys'

Promised to Give a Charger... Received a 'Toy Version'
When Requesting a Refund, "I Have My Own Life, So I Feel Hurt"

A story has emerged about a frustrating experience after purchasing a vacuum cleaner through a secondhand trading application (app). The seller is claiming to be upset because they gave a charger that does not fit, which is an essential part of the vacuum cleaner.

On the 20th, a post titled "I bought a vacuum cleaner on a secondhand trading app, but they didn’t give me the charger" was uploaded to an online community. The author, A, a university student in their early 20s, began by saying, "I was really short on money and hadn’t been able to get a proper vacuum cleaner, but this time I took a big step and bought a used vacuum cleaner for 30,000 won listed on the secondhand trading app."

Looking at the conversation between A and the seller B, when A asked about the vacuum cleaner’s performance, B said, "The front part of the vacuum cleaner is triangular-shaped, so it’s easy to clean corners at the bottom. It also lights up when cleaning in dark places, which is convenient." When A asked, "Is it right that you also give the charger together?" B replied, "Of course I do. If you can’t charge it, you can’t clean," adding that the charger would be included when purchasing the vacuum cleaner.

A said, "The seller gave me a piece of clothing they were wearing as a thank you for taking the item. Even though I didn’t really like it, I was grateful and accepted it. I went to the seller’s house to pick up the item. When I looked soaked from the rain, they even gave me an umbrella, so I thought they were a really nice person." However, the problem occurred when A got home and inspected the vacuum cleaner. A claimed, "They said they cleaned it so I could use it right away, but when I looked, there was a lot of hair stuck inside." Also, the charging cable was a foreign-compatible 110V, so it could not be used with the Korean 220V adapter.

Therefore, A contacted B saying, "I think you gave me the wrong charger," and B admitted the mistake, saying, "It seems the toy charger was sent by mistake. Sorry for the inconvenience. I will contact you tomorrow." However, B did not contact A the next day either, and when A urged them, B said, "I think you’ll have to buy a new charger, but the new one costs 50,000 won. It’s too expensive," and then cut off contact again. Eventually, unable to tolerate it, A protested, "If you’re going to keep not responding, just refund me," but B drew a line, saying, "Sorry, but a refund is difficult."

B said, "I have my own personal matters and life. I’m not just staring at this app all day. I thought it wasn’t right to sell the vacuum cleaner for 30,000 won and buy the charger for 50,000 won to give it together. Since you said you were in a tough situation, I tried to look for a used one, but since you already have the toy charger and I was kind enough to give you clothes and an umbrella when you came to buy the item, I actually feel a bit upset," criticizing A. When A explained, "I never asked for clothes or an umbrella. I contacted you because I thought it wasn’t right to keep waiting while you didn’t respond for several days," B evaded by saying, "Sell the toy charger cable and buy one yourself, or do whatever you want."

A said, "You might think contacting once a day is too much, but I held back a lot because I thought you might be bothered, yet you read my messages and ignored them. You changed the sales post to ‘sold’ and changed your nickname, and even posted other sales posts with a different account," adding, "When I said I would file a civil lawsuit, B said they would respond too. I don’t know what to do," asking for advice.

Netizens who read the story responded with comments such as, "It seems B resold a vacuum cleaner they got for free," "Go to the police station and file a complaint," "They posted the sales listing to get rid of trash from the start," "You got a bad seller," "It’s scary that there was hair stuck on the bottom of the vacuum cleaner even without the charger," "They said themselves that the charger should be included but are denying it now," and "The seller is a really strange person."
