Deployment of Rescue Helicopters and More in Yeongsangang Estuary Area... Strengthening Joint Rescue Capabilities
A joint aerial rescue drill between the Korea Coast Guard and the Navy was conducted on the afternoon of the 21st near the Yeongsangang Estuary Bank in Mokpo City.
The West Sea Regional Coast Guard Agency (Chief Kim Inchang) carried out this training to strengthen the cooperative system between the Coast Guard and the Navy, the two core forces for maritime safety and maritime sovereignty protection, to enhance maritime life-saving capabilities and improve the public's maritime safety.

Accordingly, the Coast Guard and Navy deployed about 30 personnel, ambulances, and rubber boats on the day, simulating a situation where a person was drowning at sea. Upon receiving the drowning report, the Coast Guard and Navy dispatched units that quickly rescued the drowning person using hoists and aerial rescue equipment.
In particular, the West Sea Coast Guard Aviation Unit's Mokpo Rotary Wing Squadron deployed a large rescue helicopter to conduct search and hover operations, successfully rescuing the drowning person using the helicopter's basket and transporting them safely to land.
Meanwhile, prior to the drill, the Coast Guard and Navy conducted safety control over the training area and provided pre-training safety education to the participants.
