A Man Who Was Criticized for Saying "Please Buy Bitcoin" When It Was 900 Won, Here's What He's Doing Now

Da Vinci Jeremy, Who Has Invested in Coins for 13 Years
"No Worries About Recession... I'm Living Like a 'Boss'"

In 2011, when the representative cryptocurrency 'Bitcoin' was only 67 cents (about 910 won), American programmer Da Vinci Jeremy decided to bet his future on 'coin.' He earnestly urged on social networking services (SNS) including YouTube, "Invest in Bitcoin even if it's just 1 dollar."

At that time, many people who saw his videos responded with indifference or even ridicule. Now that the price of 1 Bitcoin is hovering around 70,000 dollars, what kind of life is he living?

On the 20th (local time), Jeremy posted a short video on his Instagram story. The background of the video appears to be his personal PC desk. On a small LED board placed in front of the monitor, the number '71,147 dollars (about 97.14 million won)' is clearly displayed. It seems to be a commemorative video taken at the moment Bitcoin surpassed the 70,000-dollar mark. As of about 1 day after the video was released, at 1 p.m. on the 21st, Bitcoin is still trading around the 71,000-dollar level.

Jeremy is one of the early investors in Bitcoin. It is known that he first started investing in Bitcoin in 2011. At that time, the price of 1 Bitcoin was 67 cents.

He did not stop at simple investment but also called himself a 'Bitcoin evangelist.' He posted videos on his YouTube channel saying, "Invest in Bitcoin with the money you would spend on the lottery. Even 1 dollar is fine. Nobody cares if you lose 1 dollar," and "If you just invest here, you will be a millionaire in 10 years. I hope many people will thank me then."

At that time, overseas netizens consistently responded to his videos with indifference or coldness. However, as the price of Bitcoin skyrocketed, Jeremy is now regarded as a 'prophet' by some virtual asset investors. Currently, his personal SNS profile reads, "I am the person who told you to buy Bitcoin even for 1 dollar in 2011," and "Don't miss it again!"

The amount of his personal assets has not been disclosed. However, it is said that the level of his wealth can be guessed from the occasional personal photos he posts. He often uploads pictures of a personal VIP jet, sports cars and luxury cars, and yachts. In an interview with a foreign media outlet last year, he boasted, "Even if Bitcoin stagnates in the future, I have no big worries. I am living like a boss now."

On the 20th, in a post on his X account, he claimed, "More than 100 trillion dollars in US dollars have been distributed worldwide. Imagine when Bitcoin becomes the official currency," and "If the world's wealth moves to Bitcoin, the potential value is 400 times what it is now."
