Mokpo City held the ‘2024 First Half Pledge Project Progress Report Meeting’ on the 20th to thoroughly review the implementation status of major pledge projects.
According to the city on the 21st, the meeting, chaired by Mayor Park Hong-ryul, was held ahead of the second anniversary of the 8th term of the elected government. It shared the achievements of projects so far and exchanged in-depth opinions on the overall pledge projects, including careful inspections and solutions for underperforming projects.

The city plans to focus administrative efforts to ensure the completion within the term of currently progressing pledge projects such as △ Establishing a marine wind power convergence industrialization platform △ Creating an eco-friendly ship industry cluster complex △ Establishing youth shelters △ Installing a complex cultural center and workwear laundry for industrial complex workers △ Operating emergency childcare centers on holidays △ Creating premium street number paths.
Additionally, for mid- to long-term pledges, the city will build a close cooperative system with related organizations such as Jeollanam-do Province and central government ministries to reflect them in national plans and seek strategic response measures.
Mayor Park Hong-ryul stated, “Many projects seem to be delayed compared to the original plan due to a shortage of funds caused by a decrease in local allocation tax,” and urged, “Actively seek ways to secure funding for each project and thoroughly review solutions for underperforming projects to ensure perfect project implementation.”
He also emphasized, “If there are difficulties in the pledge project implementation process, share progress among departments and actively prepare alternatives through collaboration,” and added, “I hope the pledge projects will be carried out with a sense of urgency to meet the hopes of citizens wishing for regional development.”
Going forward, the city plans to disclose the pledge implementation status on its website and actively reflect the review points discussed at this meeting to make every effort for the early implementation of the 8th term pledge projects.
