Director Ryu Seung-wan and actors Hwang Jung-min and Jung Hae-in made their entrance to Cannes with the film 'Veteran 2'.

On the 20th (local time), they attended the photo call for the non-competitive Midnight Screening section of the 77th Cannes Film Festival held at the Palais des Festivals in Cannes, France. A 'photo call' is a separate event where invited actors and directors pose for photos in front of domestic and international press ahead of the official screening.

At the photo call, Hwang Jung-min stood before the cameras with a relaxed smile. He struck various poses, including winking and giving a thumbs-up. Jung Hae-in looked at the camera with a polite pose.

Hwang Jung-min received the Cannes flash for the second time following the film 'The Spy Gone North' (2018), while Jung Hae-in was invited to Cannes for the first time with 'Veteran 2'. Director Ryu returned to Cannes after 19 years since 'Cry Man' (2005). At that time, he was invited to the Directors' Fortnight, and this is his first official feature film invitation in 24 years since his directorial debut.

Later, at 12:30 PM on the 20th, the official screening of 'Veteran 2' took place at the Lumi?re Theater in Cannes, France. Director Ryu and the two actors walked the red carpet before the screening to greet movie fans. Ryu's wife and film collaborator Kang Hye-jung, CEO of Ouyunaegang, and Lee Mi-kyung, Vice Chairman of CJ ENM, also attended.

This year, Korean films were not included in the competition section of the Cannes Film Festival, and only 'Veteran 2' was invited to the official non-competitive Midnight Screening section. The Midnight Screening section showcases commercial genre films.

'Veteran 2' depicts the story of rookie detective Park Sun-woo (Jung Hae-in) joining veteran detective Seo Do-cheol's (Hwang Jung-min) violent crime investigation team as they chase a serial killer who has caused a public uproar. It is the sequel to 'Veteran' (2015), which attracted 13.41 million viewers. The film will be released domestically in the second half of the year.
