KRM (CEO Park Kwang-sik) announced on the 21st that it signed a global partnership agreement on AI NPU IP and strategic collaboration utilizing the quadruped walking robot Vision 60 with NPU development company AimFuture (CEO Kim Chang-soo) on the 14th.
AimFuture is an NPU development company established in 2020 by researchers who spun off from LG Electronics’ American research lab, where they studied core AI technologies, with LG Electronics participating as a strategic investor. AimFuture leads the multimodal AI era, a core issue in artificial intelligence, by providing optimal edge computing NPUs for mobility, robotics, and smart home sectors through its self-designed NPU IP ‘NeuroMosAIc’.
Through this partnership agreement, KRM secured exclusive sales rights for AimFuture’s AI NPU IP in Japan, as well as global IP rights in Europe, Asia, and other regions. KRM plans to actively expand its semiconductor IP business by leveraging its global development and sales network established through its existing semiconductor business. Additionally, KRM and AimFuture will mutually cooperate to build an in-house AI autonomous driving platform utilizing AimFuture’s AI neural processing technology for Vision 60, the quadruped walking robot, which is a key focus of KRM’s new robot business.
Park Kwang-sik, CEO of KRM, said, “Our semiconductor division has extensive semiconductor manufacturing and sales experience and a global network, which has led us to pursue an integrated IP solution business for AI platforms as a new venture. It is especially meaningful to take the first step with an outstanding partner like AimFuture.”
He added, “We are already negotiating partnership agreements with numerous global semiconductor IP and solution IP (such as AD and ADAS) companies. We will grow into an integrated IP solution company by expanding our IP portfolio and internalizing core IPs in the future.”
