‘Gwangyang-si Youth Award’ Ceremony Held

Youth Harmony Festival Event and Outstanding Youth Poems in 5 Categories

On the 18th, Gwangyang City in Jeollanam-do held the 'Gwangyang Youth Award' ceremony during the 'Youth Harmony Festival' event commemorating Youth Month at the Gwangyang Youth Culture Center, with about 300 youths and citizens in attendance.


The 'Gwangyang Youth Award' is an award established to promote the healthy development of local youth, establish a proper youth image, and recognize exemplary youths. The Youth Award ordinance was enacted last February, and this year marks the first time the award has been presented.

This year, eight nominees were recommended from five categories by elementary, middle, and high schools, township offices, and youth organizations.


After review by the Youth Award Deliberation Committee, one organization and four individual youth awardees were selected in the categories of ▲Volunteerism ▲Disability ▲Arts and Physical Education ▲Science and Technology ▲Literature.


The recipients of the 1st Youth Award are ▲Volunteerism category: Youth Volunteer Group UNI ▲Disability category: Kim Juhwan (Seonghwang Elementary School) ▲Arts and Physical Education category: Lee Siwon (Gwangyang Jecheol Elementary School) ▲Science and Technology category: Kim Dongyun (Jeonnam Science High School) ▲Literature category: Hong Eunseo (Jinwol Elementary School).


Tak Younghee, Director of the Education and Youth Division, said, “May is not only Family Month but also Youth Month. We support youths who are actively and healthily engaged with talents and skills in various fields and extend our heartfelt congratulations to the awardees.”
