The Ministry of National Defense and high-ranking military officials' personal emails were subjected to a hacking attack suspected to be carried out by North Korea, prompting the police to launch an investigation.
On the 21st, according to the police, the National Police Agency's Security Investigation Bureau recently identified hacking damage to the personal emails of senior officials of the Ministry of National Defense, including vice minister-level personnel, and military generals, and has begun an investigation.

A police official stated, "We are investigating North Korea's hacking activities targeting military personnel," but added, "It is difficult to disclose specific hacking targets and the extent of the damage."
However, it is known that this incident involved the hacking of personal email accounts rather than official military or public service email accounts, and is unrelated to cyberattacks on military servers.
The police have also identified that over 100 domestic individuals, including diplomatic security experts, had their personal emails hacked in a similar manner and are currently investigating.
North Korean hacking groups such as Kim Su-ki continue cyberattacks aimed at stealing email accounts of key figures in our military and diplomatic security authorities and experts.
The National Police Agency's Security Investigation Bureau recently announced investigation results revealing that North Korea's three major hacking groups, including Kim Su-ki, Lazarus, and Andariel, have launched comprehensive hacking attacks on more than 10 domestic defense companies for at least one and a half years, targeting the theft of domestic defense technology.
