Anonymous Donor in Songpa Sponsors Rice for Vulnerable Groups for 10 Years

Macheon 1·2-dong, Geoye 1-dong, Ogeum-dong Sustain Annual Donation of 1,800 Bags of Rice for 10 Years

An anonymous philanthropist who has been donating 1,800 bags of rice annually for 10 years has drawn attention in Songpa-gu (District Mayor Seo Gang-seok).

As usual, on April 30th this year, 150 bags of 10Kg rice were delivered to the community centers of Macheon 1·2-dong, Geoyeo 1-dong, and Ogeum-dong, but the sender remains unknown.

The anonymous donor contributes a total of 1,800 bags of white rice three times a year?for the district administration, Buddha’s Birthday, and Chuseok?to support vulnerable groups in Songpa-gu. Although the exact starting time of the donations is unknown, the warm support for low-income residents in four neighborhoods within the district has continued annually for over 10 years, including during the COVID-19 period.

The community centers of the four neighborhoods tried to find out who sent the rice through the delivery driver, but the only response was, “We just received the order and delivered the rice to the destination; we don’t know who the orderer is.”

Despite efforts to express gratitude for the support, the donor firmly declined to reveal their identity, stating, “If my identity is disclosed, I will stop the support.” They left a message saying, “There are still households in need of rice, and I want to provide real help to vulnerable groups. Please make sure it is well delivered to low-income residents in the area.”

The 600 bags of 10Kg rice donated this time were sequentially delivered to vulnerable groups in need of white rice through the community centers of Macheon 1·2-dong, Geoyeo 1-dong, and Ogeum-dong.
