Cho Ho-kwon, Yeongdeungpo District Mayor, Attends Yeouido Mugunghwa Garden Opening Ceremony

Choi Ho-kwon, Mayor of Yeongdeungpo District (left), attended the opening ceremony of the ‘Mugunghwa Garden’ on the morning of the 20th at the green area of Yeouido Hangang Park riverside (Yeouido-dong 81).

The ‘Mugunghwa Garden’ is a project carried out in collaboration with the Korea Forest for Life Association through a business agreement to build a healthy urban ecosystem, supported by private funding from the Export-Import Bank of Korea.

At the opening ceremony, Mayor Choi, representatives from the Korea Forest for Life Association and the Export-Import Bank of Korea, as well as many local residents, gathered to celebrate the opening together.

The Mugunghwa Garden embodies the ‘strength’ and ‘eternal prosperity’ symbolized by the Mugunghwa, the national flower that has endured through long and difficult times. Near the garden, about 3,000 Mugunghwa trees have been planted on the Mugunghwa hill, along with a spacious lawn where visitors can relax and enjoy picnics.

Additionally, the district planted 10 large trees, 922 shrubs, and 2,000 groundcover and herbaceous plants to create beautiful scenery throughout the four seasons.

Choi Ho-kwon, Mayor of Yeongdeungpo District, said, “I hope the Mugunghwa Garden will serve as an opportunity to reflect on the meaning of our national flower, the Mugunghwa, and foster pride. I also hope the garden becomes a healing space where many people can relax comfortably. We will continue to do our best to create Yeongdeungpo as a place where nature and people live in harmony.”
