"We will shorten the construction period to minimize inconvenience to residents"
Muan-gun, Jeollanam-do (Governor Kim San) announced on the 20th that it will begin renovation work on the indoor swimming pool and golf practice range at the Sports Park from the end of May to provide a safe sports environment for residents.
The indoor swimming pool will be temporarily closed for 43 days from the 29th of this month to July 10th, and the golf practice range will be closed for 31 days from the 27th of this month to the 27th of next month.
The indoor swimming pool will undergo replacement of the exterior glass walls, which were pointed out as a risk of collapse during last year's regular safety inspection, as well as interior painting and facility improvements. The golf practice range will carry out facility improvements such as replacing the interior ceiling due to building leaks caused by aging.
Muan-gun plans to complete the construction before the summer vacation, when visitor demand is concentrated, and before the autumn typhoon season to minimize inconvenience to residents.
Kang Mi-gan, Director of the Sports Industry Division, said, "This temporary closure is unavoidable to ensure the convenience and safety of facility users, so we ask for the understanding of residents. We will also shorten the construction period through thorough project management to minimize inconvenience to residents."
