[Special Stock] Boseong Powertech, HVDC Enhancing Power Efficiency... Transformer to Cable Boosts Transmission Tower Boom

Boseong Powertech is showing strong performance. The analysis that it will achieve the highest-ever performance this year appears to be influencing its stock price. Amid a surge in transformer and electric wire-related companies in the domestic stock market, attention is focusing on Boseong Powertech, a supplier of transmission towers.

As of 9:26 AM on the 20th, Boseong Powertech is trading at 3,990 KRW, up 3.91% from the previous trading day.

Research Alme stated about Boseong Powertech, “It is expected to achieve the highest-ever performance by consecutively winning large-scale projects recently.”

Researcher Seunghwan Lee from Research Alme explained, "We signed a contract to supply approximately 29,140 tons of steel frames for Shin Hanul Units 3 and 4 (APR-1400) and 33 other types with Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power," adding, "As a nuclear-specialized steel frame company, we completed a contract worth about 56.1 billion KRW by leveraging our technology and know-how."

He continued, "This is the largest single contract since the company’s founding," and added, "The steel pipe towers, which are leading domestically, will also play a significant role in sales growth." He emphasized, "The largest steel tower load testing facility in East Asia, built with a 6 billion KRW investment in 2012, enhances competitiveness and will drive performance improvement."

Lee also analyzed, "The Biden administration in the U.S. has significantly increased tariffs on Chinese steel, aluminum, batteries, electric vehicles, and semiconductors ahead of the presidential election," and "We expect expanded export opportunities for Boseong Powertech’s transmission network and nuclear power-related products to the U.S. market."

He explained, "Investment in the power infrastructure industry is expanding due to increased electricity consumption driven by artificial intelligence (AI)," and "Boseong Powertech possesses various power devices as well as new technologies for transmission network construction." He further predicted, "The construction technology for high-voltage direct current (HVDC) steel pipe towers can improve power efficiency," and "It will benefit from the expansion of power infrastructure investment."

The power grid is broadly divided into transmission and distribution. Electricity generated at power plants moves through the transmission network to substations in required areas, and from substations, it is distributed to homes and factories. Demand for transformers and electric wires is increasing to ensure smooth transmission and distribution. Orders for steel towers are also rising to enable efficient transmission.
