Kia EV6 Outperformed Volkswagen ID.5 in German Comparative Evaluation

Auto Bild, the Car Specialty Media, Electric SUV Comparison Review

Kia's electric sports utility vehicle (SUV) EV6 has outperformed Volkswagen's ID.5 GTX in a comparison test by a leading German automotive magazine.


The German automotive media outlet 'Auto Bild' recently conducted a comparison test of electric SUVs and awarded Kia EV6 a higher score than the Volkswagen ID.5 GTX. Auto Bild is one of the three most trusted German automotive magazines alongside Auto Motor und Sport and Auto Zeitung. It holds significant influence over consumers not only in Germany but across Europe.


This comparison test evaluated two electric SUV models, Kia EV6 and Volkswagen ID.5 GTX, across seven categories: body, convenience, powertrain, driving performance, connectivity, eco-friendliness, and economy.

The EV6 received high marks in five categories?body, powertrain, driving performance, eco-friendliness, and economy?achieving a total score of 570 points. The competing model, Volkswagen ID.5 GTX, scored 564 points. Notably, the EV6 was praised for its fast battery charging time and stable braking performance, which helped it widen the score gap with its competitor.


The EV6 can charge its battery from 10% to 80% in just 18 minutes. The competing model requires nearly 30 minutes for the same charge. When braking at 100 km/h, the EV6 recorded a stopping distance of 33.9 meters, outperforming the competing vehicle. Auto Bild commented, "The EV6 offers ample interior space and the best ultra-fast charging system," and described it as "an attractive vehicle with excellent performance and design."


A Kia representative said, "We are pleased that the EV6’s outstanding product quality has been recognized in Europe, a key market for electric vehicles," adding, "We will continue to strengthen our competitiveness in the fiercely competitive global electric vehicle market by leading with high-quality electric cars."


Meanwhile, on the 14th, Kia introduced the improved model of the EV6, the 'The New EV6,' in the domestic market. The facelifted EV6 features a 4th-generation 84kWh battery, offering a single-charge driving range of 494 km.
