Mokpo National University Hosts Crossover 'Song Jeong-a Gayageum Solo Recital' with Gayageum

The Meeting of Gayageum, Violin, Flute, and Piano on the 29th

The Department of Music Performance Planning at Mokpo National University (President Song Ha-cheol) announced on the 20th that it will hold a crossover performance with the gayageum titled "Song Jeong-ah Gayageum Solo Recital" at 5 p.m. on the 29th at the Changjo Hall Concert Hall of Mokpo National University.


Gayageum player Song Jeong-ah graduated with a Bachelor and Master of Arts from the Korea National University of Arts and majored in music education at the Graduate School of Education at Mokpo National University.


At the 14th Osaka International Music Competition, she became the first Korean to win first place in the folk instrument category and received the Chairman's Award, surpassing Western instruments on the final stage. She is currently nurturing students at Mokpo National University and Gwangju Arts High School, and is actively working as a composer and creator in various fields.

Song Jeong-ah said, "I have long dreamed of performing on stage with students majoring in Western music, and I was able to realize this through the planned performance series. Through this series, I hope that Korean music and Western music will continue to find ways to coexist and thrive together."


This performance is part of the "Changjo Hall Concert Hall Planned Performance Series" and is open to students, faculty, staff, and local residents.


This year, Mokpo National University decided to actively utilize the Changjo Hall Concert Hall as a venue for cultural and artistic performances, striving to provide opportunities for campus members and local residents to enjoy and share culture.


Shin Ji-su, head of the Department of Music Performance Planning at Mokpo National University, said, "This performance is a planned event where current students and high-level performers collaborate to create a venue for high-quality performances on our campus. We hope everyone will come to this open event to enjoy and share a pleasant time listening to traditional Korean music and crossover music."


Through the Song Jeong-ah Gayageum Solo Recital "Crossover with Gayageum," Mokpo National University is expected to contribute to the development of local culture and provide diverse enjoyment and inspiration to music lovers.
