A Korean has won a Tesla giveaway event hosted by the world's most famous YouTuber, drawing attention. On the 20th, the winner of the Tesla giveaway event conducted by American YouTuber MrBeast, who has over 200 million subscribers, was revealed on social networking services (SNS). There are a total of 26 winners, who will receive 25 Tesla Model 3 vehicles and one Tesla truck-type model, the 'Cybertruck.'
According to the list, a Korean subscriber named Kim, who identified herself as a 27-year-old woman, won a Tesla Model 3. This model is Tesla's entry-level sedan, first released in Korea in 2019, and as of March 2020, it was ranked as the best-selling imported car in Korea. The model's maximum driving range on a single charge is 1001 km, and its top speed is 225 km/h. The price posted on Tesla's website is 51.99 million KRW (based on the Highland RWD model).
MrBeast held his 26th birthday event on the 8th (local time) through his SNS. The event was conducted by liking MrBeast's post, tagging two friends, and leaving a comment. As expected from a global YouTuber, the scale of the giveaway was extraordinary. The combined price of 25 Teslas and one Cybertruck reached approximately $1,095,000 (about 1.5 billion KRW). The event targeted fans aged 18 and over in countries including the United States (excluding some regions), Korea, Australia, Canada, Chile, France, Germany, Mexico, the United Kingdom, and Japan.
Born in 1998, MrBeast was a promising high school baseball player but had to give up his athletic career after being diagnosed with Crohn's disease, leading him to pursue a career as a YouTuber. His main content features videos of people participating in various challenges with $10,000 at stake. In 2021, he gained attention by producing ‘Squid Game: The Challenge,’ inspired by the Netflix original series ‘Squid Game,’ targeting subscribers worldwide.
Currently, his YouTube subscriber count is 258 million, and his Instagram followers number 55 million. In a recent media interview, he revealed that his annual income is about $600-700 million (approximately 801 billion to 934.5 billion KRW), all of which he reinvests into content production.
