Opening of Gwanak-gu Social Economy Market 'Kkum Market'

Gwanak-gu (Mayor Park Jun-hee) will open the popular social economy market "Kkum Market" on May 23 and 24 at the Gwanak-gu Office Plaza.

Recognized as Gwanak-gu's representative market, "Kkum Market" is a project that supports social economy enterprises struggling with low brand awareness to secure stable sales channels and achieve continuous growth.

The market operates from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., offering a variety of products including ▲handicrafts ▲daily necessities ▲food ▲fruits all in one place. On the side, busking performances add vitality to the market, enhancing the fun of shopping.

There will also be visitor events at Kkum Market. At 11 a.m. and 2 p.m., a "No-Lose Roulette Event" will be held on-site, giving the first 20 visitors at each time slot either a Kkum Market discount coupon or cotton candy. Additionally, a "Stamp Event" will reward the first visitors who purchase products at five or more booths with a Kkum Market tarpaulin bag.

Kkum Market has been developing each year to allow many residents to participate and enjoy. Starting this year, the district has collaborated with the Seoul Foundation for Arts and Culture to enable the use of the "Seoul Culture Nuri Card" at food and beverage or handicraft booths displaying the Cultural Nuri Card affiliate sticker within the market.

Through this collaboration, the district expects to reduce the economic burden on vulnerable residents such as basic livelihood security recipients and lower-income groups, allowing them to enjoy Kkum Market together.

Moreover, the district encourages residents to use reusable shopping bags instead of disposable plastic bags at Kkum Market, leading the spread of a carbon-neutral culture as an eco-friendly market.

Meanwhile, as part of the 8th mayoral administration's pledge to revitalize the social economy, the district is making continuous efforts. Among these, Kkum Market has established itself as a representative project for expanding sales channels of social economy enterprises, proven effective in increasing sales and promotional impact.

Since its opening ceremony in April this year, Kkum Market has been successfully held and will be held four more times: on September 10-11 and October 17-18, following this month's event.

Park Jun-hee, Mayor of Gwanak-gu, said, "I hope that Kkum Market, Gwanak-gu's representative market, will bring a warm spring to the local economy beyond the social economy and serve as an opportunity to widely promote the necessity and benefits of the social economy to residents."
