Support for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who has led a hardline approach in the Gaza war, was found to be relatively lower compared to other leaders.
According to a survey on the job performance approval ratings of key leaders released by Israel Channel 12 on the 18th (local time), Netanyahu's approval rating was 32%. Support for the Likud Party, the ruling party led by Netanyahu, was also limited to 35%.
On the other hand, Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, who recently opposed Netanyahu by opposing Israeli military rule in the Gaza Strip after the outbreak of war, had a job performance approval rating of 43%, 11 percentage points higher than Netanyahu.
The approval rating for Herzi Halevi, Chief of Staff of the Israel Defense Forces who has been commanding the Gaza war, reached as high as 46%.
Currently, Prime Minister Netanyahu is rejecting international pressure, including from the United States, for a ceasefire and hostage release negotiations. He insists that an attack on Rafah, the southernmost city in Gaza, is inevitable to eradicate Hamas.
Support for far-right politicians advocating a hardline stance was not high. Far-right politicians who have opposed ceasefire and hostage release negotiations, such as Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich (21%) and National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir (28%), had job performance approval ratings of only around 20%.
