Secretary Blinken expressed his gratitude for Minister Cho's explanation and showed interest in the progress of the Korea-China-Japan summit, urging that South Korea and the United States continue to closely consult on shared concerns going forward.

Furthermore, the two ministers agreed to meet again around upcoming major diplomatic events to hold in-depth consultations on various issues of mutual interest, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs explained.

The phone call between the foreign ministers of South Korea and the United States came four months after the initial call in January this year, which was held as a greeting following Minister Cho's inauguration. The two ministers also held a luncheon meeting in Seoul last March.

Meanwhile, Minister Cho Tae-yul visited Beijing, China, for two days starting on the 13th and held talks with Wang Yi, member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and Foreign Minister. During the meeting, the two ministers shared opinions on bilateral issues and pledged 'cooperation.' In particular, on the economic front, they reached a consensus to continue close communication to strengthen economic cooperation between Korea and China, including stable supply chain management.
