Holding a Comprehensive Flood Response Strategy Meeting
Hwasun-gun, Jeollanam-do (Governor Gu Bok-gyu) inspected overall disaster response measures to prevent disasters caused by extreme summer heavy rains and abnormal climate conditions.
Hwasun-gun announced on the 17th that it held the "2024 Comprehensive Flood Response Strategy Meeting" on the 16th.
Due to the concentrated heavy rains in early May that broke the record for the highest daily rainfall in the province, this year's weather forecast predicts more than 80% higher rainfall compared to last year, raising concerns about disaster damage.
Accordingly, to strengthen an organic cooperation system for flood response during the summer for key facilities requiring disaster management such as rivers, roads, and reservoirs, the meeting discussed pre-inspection items and response plans for disaster-vulnerable facilities and large construction sites.
By sharing mutual cooperation plans between the county and towns/villages, efforts will be made to secure the golden time in case of disaster occurrence and achieve zero casualties through thorough disaster preparedness.
A Hwasun-gun official stated, "Unexpected extreme water bombs frequently occur due to abnormal weather changes, and the scale of casualties caused by heavy rains is increasing," adding, "Through this meeting, we will do our best to prevent casualties by establishing facility management and a close cooperation system between Hwasun-gun and towns/villages."
