China April Industrial Production Up 6.7% and Retail Sales Up 2.3% (Supplement)

The National Bureau of Statistics of China announced that industrial production in China increased by 6.7% year-on-year in April. This figure significantly exceeded both the expert forecast (5.5%) and the previous month's figure (4.5%).

Retail sales released on the same day rose by 2.3%, falling short of both the previous month's figure (3.1%) and the forecast (3.7%).

The unemployment rate in April improved by 0.2 percentage points to 5.0%, compared to 5.2% in the previous month.
