"Generative artificial intelligence (AI) is both a crisis and an opportunity. In the future, a company's competitiveness will depend on how well it adapts to AI transformation."

Kwon Young-jun, Head of Research at Samsung SDS (Vice President), said this in an interview with Asia Economy. He suggested that since AI can provide core competitiveness to companies, they need to consider which areas to apply it first. Companies should consider which tasks require AI adoption the most and to what extent and which models to implement.

Vice President Kwon emphasized the importance of data preparation for utilizing AI. He explained that companies should not only process and use existing data but also collect data in a form suitable for AI models. Kwon said, "The data a company possesses will be its greatest asset in adopting AI," adding, "Confidential documents or data requiring security must be categorized and managed systematically."

To assist companies in AI transformation, Samsung SDS recently launched generative AI services 'Brity Copilot' and 'Fabrics.' Brity Copilot is a solution that applies generative AI technology to frequently used tasks such as email, messenger, and document management. Fabrics, a cloud-based platform, connects existing internal systems and generative AI in a one-stop manner.

In addition to services, consulting is also provided. They analyze the costs and actual effects of adopting generative AI to review suitability. They offer integrated support from providing the necessary environment for AI construction, selecting large language models (LLM), model fine-tuning, model building, maintenance, and AI utilization training.

Samsung SDS has also integrated generative AI throughout its work environment. Even before the official launch of Brity Copilot, a pilot service was opened for about 10,000 employees internally. As a result, the time spent writing meeting minutes was reduced by more than 75%, and the time taken for summarizing content or drafting emails was reduced by over 66%.

In the research and development (R&D) field led by Vice President Kwon, efficiency improvements were also observed. Productivity increased by supporting code analysis and software (SW) testing. AI helped streamline work processes and created a system where employees' tacit knowledge is shared. From a managerial perspective, applying data-driven predictions to organizational management has helped improve company satisfaction.

Vice President Kwon said, "This year, various cases of AI application by business will emerge," and predicted, "Once successful cases appear, adoption will spread even to companies that have been watching from the sidelines." He will participate as a panelist at the Future Enterprise Forum hosted by Asia Economy on the 22nd, where he will evaluate the AI era and discuss why AI transformation is necessary.
