Assemblyman Min Hyung-bae Cited as a 'Good Example'
Lee Jae-myung, leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, met with newly elected Democratic Party lawmakers who entered the National Assembly for the first time through the general election in April and advised them to "speak and act according to their convictions, as each member is a constitutional institution."

On the afternoon of the 16th, at the Democratic Party of Korea's workshop for first-term lawmakers held at the National Assembly, Lee said, "When I was mayor of Seongnam, I often repeated the phrase 'One hour of a mayor is equivalent to one million hours.' Each member of the National Assembly is using the time of the entire nation," and emphasized that "they must never forget that they are public officials even for a moment," according to Roh Jong-myeon, the party's floor spokesperson.
Lee also cited the case of Representative Min Hyung-bae, which sparked controversy over a 'disguised party withdrawal,' as a 'good example,' and reportedly urged lawmakers "not to be swayed by Yeouido rhetoric or political logic but to act according to public sentiment."
At the workshop, Floor Leader Park Chan-dae, Secretary-General Kim Yoon-duk, Supreme Council Member Jung Chung-rae, and former Floor Leader Hong Ik-pyo attended and gave lectures under the theme of "Wise Legislative Life."
Supreme Council Member Jung advised at the event, "You must have a heart that loves your constituency. Treat it like a romantic relationship," and added, "Try not to play golf if possible, and use that time for something else."
Kim Yong-min, Deputy Floor Policy Chief, reportedly expressed the intention to reintroduce bills in the 22nd National Assembly that President Yoon Suk-yeol either exercised or is expected to exercise the right of veto (reconsideration request) on, among the bills passed in the 21st National Assembly.
Additionally, he pointed out that they are preparing a 'dispositive law' to provide livelihood recovery support funds and stated, "We will make the bill solid to avoid any constitutional controversy raised by some quarters," according to Roh, the floor spokesperson.
However, Roh emphasized, "There was no mention at all during the workshop regarding the selection of candidates for the Speaker of the 22nd National Assembly's first half, which took place in the morning."
