Western World Led by the US and Western Europe Faces Backlash Against the System
Chinese President Xi Jinping and Russian President Vladimir Putin expressed opposition on the 16th to "military provocations by the United States and its allies against North Korea."
According to Russian TASS news agency and others, the two leaders included in a joint statement released after their summit in Beijing that day, "We oppose military intimidation actions by the United States and its allies that escalate confrontation with North Korea, which could lead to armed conflict and increased tensions on the Korean Peninsula." They also stated that the international community should support the "constructive initiative on the Korean Peninsula issue" advocated by China and Russia.
The summit and joint statement between President Xi and President Putin took place during Putin's state visit to China to commemorate the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
Furthermore, the joint statement claimed, "We note the negative impact on regional peace and stability of the United States' Indo-Pacific strategy, which aligns with the destructive policies of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) in the Indo-Pacific region." The two leaders, opposing the US-led world order, also called for the restoration of multipolarity in the international community during their joint press conference.
Regarding the Ukraine war issue, the statement said, "The two countries note the need to halt any actions that contribute to the prolongation of hostilities and further escalation of the conflict," adding, "We demand preventing the situation from spiraling out of control and emphasize the importance of dialogue as the best way to resolve the Ukraine crisis."
It also mentioned, "The two countries start from the fact that ensuring a sustainable resolution to the Ukraine crisis requires addressing the root causes, adhering to the 'principle of indivisible security,' and considering the legitimate security interests and concerns of all countries."
The principle of indivisible security means that one country's security should not be achieved at the expense of another's. This reflects China's agreement with Russia's stance opposing NATO's involvement in the Ukraine war. The joint statement also included, "Russia and China will continue to strengthen trust and cooperation in the military field and expand the scale of joint exercises and military training."
