Campus-Style Expo Open to Everyone

Yangcheon-gu, Seoul (Mayor Lee Gi-jae) opened the ‘Y Education Expo 2024’ on the 16th, a three-day event held until the 18th around the Yangcheon-gu Office area. The Y Education Expo is the first nationwide education expo organized by a local government, with Yangcheon-gu leading the way.

This year, the expo was planned as a campus-style event to allow any citizen to freely participate in the educational programs they desire. Various contents were prepared, including expert forums, future advanced classrooms, star mentor lectures, career rock talk concerts, and lifelong learning festivals.

On the morning of the opening day, an opening tape-cutting ceremony for the education expo was held around Yangcheon Park with the humanoid robot Amy, followed by a Taekwondo demonstration by K-Tigers. In the afternoon, the opening ceremony of ‘Y Education Expo 2024’ was held with about 500 attendees, including Yangcheon-gu Mayor Lee Gi-jae, education officials, students, and parents.

Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon and Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education Superintendent Cho Hee-yeon attended the opening ceremony, followed by a star mentor lecture by Lee Sedol 9-dan, the only Go player to have defeated AlphaGo.

At the opening ceremony, Mayor Lee Gi-jae said, “At the site of the second Y Education Expo, proactively hosted by the education city Yangcheon-gu, I hope everyone spends a meaningful time seeing, hearing, and feeling the future that has come close to us, and takes a leap toward a greater future.”
