US Police Release Chase Video with Hyundai Car Thief
"Durability Like a Tank"... Praises for Driving Performance and Safety
A 'dangerous chase' between police cars and thieves unfolded on a road in Ohio, USA. The suspects were two teenagers who, while fleeing from the police, stole a Hyundai vehicle and wreaked havoc on the road.
On the 11th (local time), the Whitehall Police in Columbus, Ohio, posted a video of the chase with the thieves that took place in a nearby town. The chase reportedly occurred on the 7th.
The thieves evaded the police by stealing a Hyundai car and began fleeing. The police pursued them immediately in a mid-sized police car. In the video posted by the Whitehall Police, the police car can be seen chasing the Hyundai with sirens blaring. The Hyundai driven by the thieves suddenly changed lanes and even left the road, causing chaos throughout the town.
At one point, the Hyundai took a side road and entered a construction site. The vehicle hit safety cones and drums, leaving the exterior battered. The thieves tried to evade the police cordon but eventually stopped only after crashing into a thick wooden pole.
American netizens who saw the video appeared shocked that the thieves, only teenagers, stole a vehicle and drove so recklessly. Strong reactions included comments like "They should be punished as adults," "Show no mercy," and "They are nothing but garbage to our society."
Some also focused on the 'durability' of the stolen Hyundai. They marveled that despite the vehicle being crushed after hitting a tree, the occupants inside were largely unharmed. Comments included, "Hyundai is known for being sturdy, at least," "Hyundai's durability is at the level of a tank," "It's a shame this is a crime video and can't be used as an advertisement," and "I should sell my Toyota and switch to Hyundai."
Meanwhile, the Whitehall Police reportedly arrested the two teenage thieves after the chase. The suspects are also accused of previous vehicle thefts.
