Samugumyung Ubuntu Foundation Donates 2 Million Won Scholarships Each to 25 Children from Non-Regular Worker Families

The Korea Student Aid Foundation (Chairman Bae Byungil) and the Office & Financial Ubuntu Foundation (Chairman Shin Pilgyun) held a scholarship certificate award ceremony for the first semester of 2024 Blue Lighthouse Office & Financial Ubuntu Foundation Donation Scholarship at the Seoul Office of the Korea Student Aid Foundation.


The Office & Financial Ubuntu Foundation is a foundation established with contributions from office and financial labor and management nationwide to a social solidarity fund. Since 2019, it has donated a total of 410 million KRW to the Korea Student Aid Foundation, supporting a total of 229 scholarship recipients to date.

Through the 2024 first semester Blue Lighthouse Office & Financial Ubuntu Foundation Donation Scholarship Program, the Korea Student Aid Foundation selected 25 outstanding students from families of non-regular workers and indirectly employed workers in the office and financial sectors, providing each with a living expense scholarship of 2 million KRW.


Bae Byungil, Chairman of the Korea Student Aid Foundation, stated, "We are grateful to the Office & Financial Ubuntu Foundation for their consistent support in alleviating inequality in our society," and added, "The Korea Student Aid Foundation will do its utmost to help scholarship recipients continue their studies in a stable environment, and we hope these students will carry on the spirit of giving and become members of society who practice the virtuous cycle of sharing."


Shin Pilgyun, Chairman of the Office & Financial Ubuntu Foundation, said, "One year, a fourth-year student who was selected as a Blue Lighthouse Office & Financial Ubuntu Foundation scholarship recipient expressed gratitude for being able to study for a job-related certification thanks to the scholarship and successfully found employment," and continued, "We hope the Blue Lighthouse Office & Financial Ubuntu Foundation Scholarship will be of some help to your career paths and the growth of your dreams."


Lee Jaejin, Chairman of the Office & Financial Union, remarked, "Ubuntu means 'I am because you are,' representing the spirit of community," and added, "We hope the dreams of Blue Lighthouse Office & Financial Ubuntu Foundation scholarship recipients will come true, and that you become talents who practice the spirit of sharing and solidarity."


The Office & Financial Ubuntu Foundation is a foundation established by office and financial labor and management nationwide contributing to a social solidarity fund to create 'workplaces without discrimination and a society where we prosper together.' Ubuntu is an African word meaning 'I am because you are,' signifying the spirit of coexistence that one can only be happy by creating a happy community.
