Global Electric Vehicle Charging Infrastructure Market Expansion
Utilizing Gilbaco's Global Network
Rapid Charger Supply Expected to Increase Significantly
SK Signet, the No. 1 player in the U.S. ultra-fast electric vehicle (EV) charging market, will exclusively supply EV chargers to Gilbarco, the U.S. and European market leader in fuel dispensers.
SK Signet announced on the 16th that it recently signed a partnership agreement with Gilbarco at the 'UNITI Expo' held in Stuttgart, Germany.
Leveraging Gilbarco’s global network, SK Signet plans to accelerate the supply of its 'V2' ultra-fast EV chargers to 32 key markets including North America, South America, and Europe. The 400 kW-class ultra-fast charger 'V2', first introduced at CES 2023, can output up to 400 kW from a single port, enabling charging from 20% to 80% in just 15 minutes.
Headquartered in North Carolina, USA, Gilbarco holds over 60% market share in the U.S. convenience store fuel dispenser market and more than 40% in the European fuel dispenser market, including 80% in Germany. The company has selected EV chargers as a new core business and is actively expanding in this field. Gilbarco’s parent company, Vontier, is a leading provider of mobility-related backend software and owns multiple e-mobility portfolios, including Driivz, the No. 1 U.S. charging station operation software provider, and Invenco, a payment terminal and software company.
Through this partnership, SK Signet expects to expand its revenue sources beyond existing charge point operators (CPOs) to sectors where Gilbarco has strengths, such as gas stations and supermarkets, accelerating growth in the U.S. and Europe. Additionally, by linking with Vontier subsidiaries Driivz and Invenco, SK Signet will be able to offer integrated services from charging to payment. Utilizing Gilbarco’s abundant technical workforce, the company plans to provide faster and more advanced maintenance services in the U.S. and Europe.
SK Signet has the capacity to produce up to 10,000 chargers annually through its U.S. production subsidiary, SK Signet Manufacturing Texas LLC. SK Signet is currently supplying EV chargers that meet the U.S. National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (NEVI) subsidy program standards to major charging service providers and ranks third in the NEVI subsidy project.
Dave Coom, CEO of Gilbarco, and Om Shanker, Vice President, said, “After reviewing multiple charger manufacturers, we selected SK Signet for its superior technology, charger lineup, and corporate culture. By combining Gilbarco’s sales and maintenance capabilities with SK Signet’s advanced technology, we will revolutionize charging infrastructure in the U.S. and Europe.”
Shin Jeong-ho, CEO of SK Signet, stated, “By exclusively partnering with Gilbarco, which has a long history and extensive sales channels in the fuel dispenser industry, we can now actively target gas stations and large supermarket markets in the U.S. and Europe. Through this, we aim to solve the charging infrastructure issues that hinder EV adoption and contribute to the expansion of EV usage in these regions.”
