On the 15th at 11 a.m., Oh Seung-rok, Mayor of Nowon-gu, attended the Buddhist ceremony celebrating the 2568th Buddha's Birthday at Hakdoam in Nowon-gu.
Mayor Oh Seung-rok expressed his gratitude to Hakdoam of the Jogye Order of Korean Buddhism, which has led sharing efforts for marginalized neighbors in celebration of Buddha's Birthday.
Hakdoam has supported donations and goods for low-income families in the Nowon-gu area for several years, and on this day, Ven. Hyunmu, the head monk of Hakdoam, additionally donated 1,000 kg of white rice to the district in commemoration of Buddha's Birthday.
Mayor Oh Seung-rok said, "Thank you for always practicing the heart of Buddha and extending a helping hand to neighbors," and added, "We will strive to ensure that the sincerity shown for the community and neighbors reaches those who truly need it."
