The 'Daegu International Beauty Expo,' known as a festival for the mutual growth of the local beauty industry and K-Beauty, will be held at EXCO for three days starting from the 17th.
Celebrating its 11th edition this year, the Daegu International Beauty Expo is a leading domestic beauty trade show hosted by Daegu Metropolitan City and organized by EXCO, KOTRA, and the Daegu Beauty Export Association.
This exhibition will feature 120 companies with 200 booths, showcasing a wide range of beauty fields in one place, including beauty tech that incorporates IT technology, customized cosmetics based on skin analysis, vegan beauty products that do not use animal-derived ingredients, and clean beauty products that exclude harmful substances and consider eco-friendly packaging.
This year, business support measures for market expansion have been further strengthened. The export consultation meetings, held on the 17th and 18th, have secured national funding to support export consultations. In addition to existing participating countries such as China and Vietnam, major overseas buyers with significant export performance from countries like Australia, France, and Canada have been selectively invited, expanding the number of invited companies to 34, a 40% increase compared to last year (24 companies).
For the first time this year, an entry briefing session for Alibaba Tmall Global, China's largest online platform, will be held. In addition, a purchasing consultation meeting consisting of 22 major domestic distribution buyers, including CJ ENM, Lotte and Hyundai Home Shopping, Coupang, TMON, and NewCore Outlet, will support participating companies in securing domestic and overseas markets.
Furthermore, the exhibition will be joined by member companies of the Daegu Beauty Export Association, the Gyeongbuk K-Beauty Joint Pavilion, and the Chungbuk Cosmetics Joint Brand Pavilion, promoting joint marketing and the local beauty industry.
Side events have also been enriched. For the first time, a 'Makeover Show' will be held on the 17th. The Makeover Show is a program where influencers are invited to demonstrate participating companies' products. Makeup artist Kwon Junwoo, YouTuber Kim Miso with 1.35 million subscribers, and Yuna K-Review, a hot influencer in Vietnam, will participate.
On the 19th, the 2024 Miss Daegu contestants will visit participating companies, conduct live interviews, and introduce their products. On the stage of Hall 1 in the West Wing, a marketing seminar and a session for participating companies to present new technologies and products will be held under the theme 'Exploding Beauty Trends.'
In addition, on the first day, the opening hair show and the 37th Daegu Mayor's Cup Beauty Competition will kick off the event, followed by the 2nd K-Nail Skills Competition on the 18th, and the 14th Daegu Mayor's Cup International Skin Beauty Competition on the 19th. Over 1,100 beauty industry professionals and beauty-related high school and university students from across the country will have the opportunity to fully showcase their skills.
The Beauty College Pavilion, which had three participating universities last year, will see a significant increase to eight universities this year. They will offer a variety of beauty experiences such as personal color diagnosis, hair and scalp diagnosis, makeup, tattoo stickers, and nail art to visitors, and promote beauty-related departments. A Daegu City job counseling center for beauty students seeking employment or entrepreneurship will also be operated.
There will also be events to engage visitors' interest. An open-run event will provide mask packs to the first 100 visitors each day, an on-site SNS event for early participants, and a lucky bag giveaway for the first 30 customers who make purchases of 50,000 won or 100,000 won or more.
