The day after the event, on the 14th, Chairman Park visited two local sites responsible for product supply in the Czech nuclear power plant project.

He inspected the production site of Doosan ?koda Power, a turbine specialist manufacturer located in Plze?, Czech Republic. Established in 1869, Doosan ?koda Power has expanded its business beyond Europe to the Middle East, Asia, and Africa since joining Doosan in 2009. Chairman Park also visited the Doosan Bobcat Europe, Middle East, and Africa (EMEA) office. Doosan Bobcat EMEA has a factory and regional headquarters in Dob???, Czech Republic, producing small and medium-sized loaders and excavators.

If Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power wins the Czech nuclear power plant project, Doosan Enerbility plans to supply primary system key main equipment such as reactors and steam generators, while Doosan ?koda Power will supply secondary system key main equipment such as steam turbines. Additionally, Doosan Group will provide Doosan ?koda Power with Doosan Enerbility's carbon-free power generation technologies, including hydrogen and gas turbines, to support the Czech Republic in emerging as a carbon-free power generation hub in Europe.

Doosan's local companies also conducted interviews with Czech local media. Over 30 local media outlets, including Czech public broadcaster Czech TV, Czech Radio, and CTK news agency, visited the event venue. In interviews with the Czech media, Doosan Enerbility and Doosan ?koda Power strongly expressed Doosan Group's determination to win the Czech nuclear power plant project.

At the event, Doosan Group signed memorandums of understanding (MOUs) for cooperation in supplying nuclear main and auxiliary equipment with local power equipment companies such as ?koda JS, MICO, Vitkovice, and ZAT, on the premise of winning the Czech nuclear power plant project. Through this, they strengthened the partnership between Korea and the Czech Republic and thoroughly prepared to secure the Czech nuclear power plant project.

Czech Republic Plans to Build Up to Four New Nuclear Reactors Worth 30 Trillion Won

The Czech government is currently promoting a project to build up to four nuclear reactors with a capacity of less than 1200 MW in the Dukovany and Temel?n regions. The total project cost is estimated to reach around 30 trillion won. The Czech Republic aims to select a preferred bidder in July, finalize the contractor and sign the contract next year, start construction in 2029, and complete it by 2036.

With the exclusion of the U.S. Westinghouse from the revised proposal submission qualification, a two-way competition is underway between Korea and France. Korea is participating in the bidding through 'Team Korea,' which includes Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power, Doosan Enerbility, and Daewoo Engineering & Construction. Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power submitted the final bid to the Czech power company CEZ on the 29th of last month (local time).

Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power proposed supplying the APR-1000, a reduced capacity version of the APR-1400 developed with independent technology, according to the Czech side's requirements. Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power plans to win the nuclear power plant contract in the Czech Republic, a foothold in the European market, by emphasizing superior price competitiveness and schedule management capabilities to complete the nuclear power plant within the planned period compared to the French Electric Utility (EDF).
