A Total of 25 Billion Won to Be Invested Over 5 Years and 8 Months Until 2029
Gyeongbuk Technopark was selected on the 13th for the Energy Technology Shared University (Nuclear Energy Field) project, supported by the Korea Institute of Energy Technology Evaluation and Planning under the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy.
This project will invest approximately 25 billion KRW over five years and eight months, from May until 2029, to nurture talent that will lead the nuclear energy industry.
The Energy Technology Shared University project was established to build a cooperative system among local governments, universities, companies, and regional innovation institutions to address the ecosystem crisis in the regional energy industry and the decline in local talent, with the goal of fostering personnel equipped with energy innovation technology capabilities.
The project is led by Pusan National University and involves 15 institutions, including four local governments (Gyeongbuk Province, Busan City, Ulsan City, Gyeongnam Province), seven universities (Pohang University of Science and Technology, Handong Global University, Pusan National University, Dong-Eui University, UNIST, Gyeongsang National University, Inje University), and four regional innovation institutions (Gyeongbuk Technopark, Busan Technopark, Ulsan Technopark, Gyeongnam Technopark), with the aim of cultivating highly skilled professionals to lead innovation in the regional nuclear energy industry.
Gyeongbuk TP (Green Energy Center) will collaborate with universities that have extensive research experience in the nuclear energy field to jointly develop curricula, operate long-term field training and internship programs, and provide employment support, thereby fostering specialized personnel throughout the entire nuclear energy cycle.
Ha Inseong, President of Gyeongbuk Technopark, said, "As Gyeongbuk Province is one of the leading bases for the nuclear power industry in Korea, Gyeongbuk TP will strive to continuously play a role in ensuring a smooth supply of specialized personnel through local universities and revitalizing the nuclear energy industry within the province."
