On the 14th, HD Hyundai Chemical announced that it had received the Platinum Medal from EcoVadis, a global ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) rating agency. The Platinum Medal is awarded only to the top 1% of evaluated companies, and HD Hyundai Chemical is the first domestic refining and petrochemical company to achieve the Platinum rating.

EcoVadis evaluates the global sustainability of over 100,000 companies across 175 countries. It assesses four main areas (Environment, Ethics, Labor & Human Rights, Sustainable Procurement) and assigns one of four ratings (Platinum, Gold, Silver, Bronze) based on the total score.

HD Hyundai Chemical scored highly across all categories. In particular, its efforts in adopting renewable raw materials and its eco-friendly certification (ISCC PLUS) were highly praised. HD Hyundai Chemical plans to actively utilize EcoVadis’s evaluation reports when supplying eco-friendly products to global companies in the future.

Go Young-gyu, CEO of HD Hyundai Chemical, stated, "It is meaningful to have our ESG competitiveness recognized by an internationally reputable institution," adding, "We will continue to expand eco-friendly businesses to meet global standards and establish ourselves as a leading company in sustainable management."

Meanwhile, since introducing pyrolysis oil from waste plastics in 2022, HD Hyundai Chemical has processed more than 10,000 tons, the largest scale in Korea, over the past two years. This year, it is producing eco-friendly products by incorporating sustainable bio raw materials such as waste cooking oil and refined soybean oil.
