Crew Member with Myocardial Infarction Rescued by Coordination and Helicopter Deployment... Effectively Fulfilling Role as Maritime Safety Guardian
The West Sea Regional Coast Guard Agency (Chief Kim In-chang) is actively fulfilling its role as a maritime safety guardian by deploying rescue boats and helicopters to transport patients with myocardial infarction and extinguish ship fires.
According to the West Sea Coast Guard on the 14th, at around 6 p.m. on the 13th, they received a report of a suspected myocardial infarction patient on a fishing vessel operating in the distant waters of Buan-gun, Jeonbuk. They immediately ordered the nearest Buan Coast Guard Station to dispatch a rescue boat and instructed the Gunsan Aviation Unit to urgently launch a helicopter.

Thanks to the Coast Guard's prompt response, the crew member in his 50s was transported to a general hospital in Jeonbuk and was able to receive medical treatment safely.
Earlier that day, at around 11 a.m., the West Sea Coast Guard received a report of a crew member in his 60s suspected of having a stroke on an 1800-ton merchant ship sailing southwest of Yeosu City. They urgently dispatched a rescue boat from the Yeosu Coast Guard Station to transport the crew member to land.
Additionally, at around 8 a.m. that day, they received a report of a fire on a fishing vessel operating near Maemuldo, Sinan-gun. They dispatched patrol vessels and took fire suppression measures and ensured the safety of the crew on board.
Along with this, the West Sea Coast Guard transported emergency patients from Wido, Buan-gun, and Haedo, Sinan-gun to land that day, and shortly after midnight, they rescued a Chinese man in his 30s who had jumped from Dolsan Bridge.
Since the beginning of this year, the West Sea Coast Guard has transported a total of 247 emergency patients and handled 97 major maritime accidents.
